Meet Alison Liscombe...
My degree studies at Exeter (1979) introduced me to a more formal understanding of what has always been, for me, a natural fascination with human nature, with people and their interactions. I became particularly interested in Social psychology and child development. After graduating, I decided to undergo Nurse training, having enjoyed holiday jobs in a local hospital as an auxiliary nurse. My career as a nurse has given me experience in caring for elderly people with dementia, both in residential and community settings, adult mental illness, and as Community Psychiatric Nurse, working with families and children.
My interest in studying Homeopathy as an alternative medicine, was kindled by my children, and the life consequences of having brought them into the world!
I discovered that homeopathic treatment of childhood illness and complaints, produced more long lasting results and positive changes than any antibiotic I attempted (unsuccessfully), to get them to swallow! The calming of a screaming teething baby was both a joy and a blessing for everyone! I was fascinated by the results I observed in my family and myself as a result of Homoeopathic treatment, and became determined to find out more. I eventually decided to undertake the four year training in 1995. Homeopathy remains a passion and daily fascination for me.
I gave up my nursing career in the NHS, as I became aware of the limitations of conventional medicine in certain areas, and the potential of Homeopathy. I have been practicing Homeopathy for ten years now in Newtown (Mid Wales) where I live with my husband and two girls. I trained at the Welsh School of Homeopathy in Carmarthen, have undertaken three Homeopathic proving's, and continue to learn and develop my knowledge and experience on a regular basis through programmes of Continuing Professional Development and reflective practice. I am registered with the Society of Homeopaths and work to their standards of Professional practice.
